Genevieve DeVeau, Clinical Mental Health Intern

Hello! My name is Genevieve, and I am a Master’s-level student intern at Lighthouse Counseling Services. I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Behavioral Health Psychology at Carroll University, where I also earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I provide counseling services under clinical supervision as part of my internship, with a commitment to providing competent, ethical, and compassionate care.

I am passionate about working with children, adolescents, teens, young adults, adults, and couples. My clinical areas of expertise include emotional abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse, medical trauma, childhood trauma, panic disorders, OCD, relational attachments, school related stressors (all grade levels including higher education), and eating disorders. Every person’s experiences are unique, and in my practice, I strive to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported without judgment. Together, we can work toward reclaiming a sense of autonomy and creating a stronger sense of safety and confidence within yourself.

My approach is trauma informed and person-centered and grounded in the belief that exploring the patterns beneath our thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors can provide insight into how our experiences shape our daily lives and create opportunities for meaningful change. Together, we can make sense of where these patterns come from, develop greater self-awareness and self-trust, and build practical tools for moving forward.

Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness and can be a meaningful first step toward creating change. Whether you are working through trauma, navigating relationships or school, learning to trust yourself or others, asking for help, or finding your way through everyday life, you do not have to navigate it alone. As your clinician, I will walk alongside you without judgment, meeting you where you are while supporting you as you find your own path forward. My hope is to help you recognize your strengths, build a greater sense of security and autonomy, and discover hope for what is possible moving forward.
