Lisa Miles, Clinical Mental Health Intern

Hello, I'm Lisa Miles, an intern at Lighthouse Counseling Services. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from DePaul University in Chicago back in 2003 and am now pursuing my passion for counseling by attending graduate school at Concordia University-Wisconsin in the Professional Counseling program.

Being a member of both the American Counseling Association and the Wisconsin Counseling Association allows me to stay connected and continually learn and grow in the counseling field. Over the years, I have gained a wide range of experiences, including retail management, bartending, and several fulfilling years working at a church. As a volunteer teacher for thirteen years, I enjoyed teaching faith formation to teens and being part of their meaningful mission trips.

Since my first introductory Psychology class as an undergraduate, I've been fascinated by the intricacies of the human mind and behavior. Working with people and helping them discover their potential brings me immense joy. My focus in counseling revolves around working with both teens and adults, specializing in areas such as anxiety, depression, grief, chronic medical conditions, adjustment, career planning, and stress management.

When it comes to counseling techniques, I tend to utilize a cognitive-behavioral approach, but I am also drawn to the human-centered and positive psychology aspects of therapy. I believe that each person is unique, and it's essential to find personalized techniques that resonate with their needs and aspirations.

Joining the Lighthouse Counseling Services team is an exciting opportunity for me to contribute to the well-being of others and support their personal growth. I am enthusiastic about guiding my clients towards positive change and helping them discover their inner strengths. Together, we will illuminate the path towards a brighter future.
